\nAfter a disastrous start of the 1998 season for DW´s own team and International Sports Management´s TABASCO sponsored team, Tim Beverly ended up acquiring both teams and created Tyler Jet Motorsports.

\nTyler Jet Motorsports opted to put DW in one of the Chevrolets that had been built by DW´s old team for the Brickyard 400, and the crew took the decals and paint from the ISM team and repainted the Monte Carlo in the TABASCO color scheme.

\nMcIlhenny, the corporate owners of the TABASCO brand were livid, because ISM did not tell them about the change of ownership, and suddenly the Pontiacs and the driver featured in all their marketing material were suddenly gone.

\nDW finished 13th at Indy and 25th at Watkins Glen with the TABASCO Monte Carlo.
